The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), a premier national professional body set up under the Company Secretaries Act, 1980, is the only recognized professional body in India to develop and regulate the profession of Company Secretaries in the country. ICSI functions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India and provides top-quality education to the students, pursuing the Company Secretary Course, and sets best quality standards for the members of the Institute. Headquartered in New Delhi and Noida, ICSI has 4 Regional Offices in New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, 72 Chapters Offices across the length and breadth of the country, a Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad and Kolkata each and a Centre for Corporate Governance, Research and Training (CCGRT) in Navi Mumbai. ICSI also has 6 overseas Centres in UAE, USA, UK, Singapore, Australia and Canada. The ICSI has been playing a key role in the growth and development of India Inc. and beyond, by producing a cadre of highly qualified Company Secretary Professionals who are filling in the essential strategic role that is responsible for managing the Administrative, Secretarial, Legal as well as Financial Activities in the Corporate Sector. UGC recognizes CS qualification equivalent to Post Graduate Degree.
It may be pertinent to note that ICSI has its Guwahati (North Eastern) Chapter in Guwahati, Assam, exclusively responsible for all the Eight States of North Eastern Region of the Country. The NE Chapter of ICSI, the largest Chapter in terms of geographical mapping, covering more than 99 Districts, works for the training and development of students and members of the ICSI residing in the North Eastern Region.
The ICSI is having around 150 Study Centers across the Country where the ICSI do not have its Offices. In North Eastern Region of the Country, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India is having around 15 Study Centers including in all the States Capital. The purpose of the Study Centre is to felicitate the Students of the local areas with the Counseling; registration in CS Course; Coaching Facilities; Library Facilities; Training Facilities etc.
The Bimala Prasad Chaliha College ICSI Study centre was established on August 23,2023. The main aim of the study centre is to provide guidance to the students of Nagarbera and the nearing areas about the the various professions that can be pursued by the students in the future if they complete the CS course.
