The Department of Education, B.P.C College, began to offer tutoring to students since 1972, which is when the college first opened. At first, there were only pre-university classes, but eventually they become known as (Higher Secondary), undergraduate (Honors) courses were first offered in 1976. First head of the department is Prof. Sandhya Roy. The education department has always had a compelling approach to implementing all round development of the college. At the beginning stages of new aims and establishment, the department took the lead. The department of Education sponsored the college’s very first and foremost seminar in 1983. The department also made the decision to launch the first wall magazine, which it called “SOPAN” in 1994 and the serial publication of the annual wall magazine is still going strong. In B.P.C. College, the Education department also pioneered the trends of departmental freshman, college freshman socials, farewell ceremonies, and education trips. The department has been running efficiently since 1994. A student from our department namely Gantam Das achieved first class first position in Gauhati University in the undergraduate program in 1997. Almost each and every year the students of Education department are successfully earning first class and likewise, HOD of Education department in Tezpur University is one of our students. Faculty members at B.P.C. College a number many ex-students. Also, many students are employed as teachers in numerous colleges. Moreover, a few number of ex-students of our department have retired from this service. A large number of products of our department have been working in different L.P, M.E, High school, and also in various higher positions under Assam Government. The students of our Education department also established in different Government and non Government jobs in Assam and in the states of India Further, the contribution of our students in respect of cultural music, and literature is satisfactory. The associate professor Dr. B.B.Panda was also the faculty of our department who honored chair of principle of our college from 30th January 2012 to 30th June 2022. In addition to “SOPAN” the education department published the “Newsletter” and another bulletin. Further, the department is organizing panel discussions, group discussions, and popular talks. Various departmental seminars in time to time. All the teachers of our department are very cooperative and their activities to wend the development of our college is possible.
